I LOVE the cover of Death in the Haunted Wood and couldn’t wait to share it with you. Well, okay, I did have to wait, at least… until my publisher got to show it off first.
The wait is over, and I hope you love this cover as much as I do.
What do I love? The palette, for one thing. The colors evoke the exact atmosphere I tried to create for The Haunted Wood RV Park. I love the way the trees not only surround the park, they loom over the scene and create a shivery sense of mystery. I also love the cozy elements: the bonfire, the retro RVs, the comfy chairs, the mugs on the table, the glowing lights, and… the cat. Especially the cat.
By foregrounding that big fluffy black-and-white cat, the cover designer foreshadows what’s to come. You wonder about that cat, don’t you? Of course you do.
What role will the cat play? I can’t wait for you to find out, but I’m not telling. You’ll have to read the book to discover the cat’s absolutely purr-fect role.
I’ll share more soon, about the cat, the setting, and how those elements connect to my life and RV adventures.
