I don’t know about you, but I find synchronous events to be both mysterious and marvelous. If you’re following Aunt Saffi’s travels you know about a recent RV journey to Santa Fe, New Mexico. The purpose? The author of all things Saffi Graywood (that would be me, Kim Griswell) was helping her daughter move there from Oregon. Upon returning to home base in Oregon, I ventured to a favorite Indian restaurant where the only empty parking space was beside a van from… New Mexico! Weird. But not weird enough. Once inside the restaurant, I found myself (very rudely, I admit) involved in a message chain with my children. One of them had been searching for his paternal grandparents’ burial place and found it to be Santa Fe, New Mexico. Not a huge surprise, despite the fact that said grands lived in Albuquerque. The mysterious synchronicity came about when he shared the name of the cemetery which… I kid you not… just happened to be right across the street from my daughter’s new apartment complex in Santa Fe. When weird things happen in books I sometimes think—really…? Would that actually happen in real life? Yes. Yes, it would.
